File Formats Found on the BANA Website
Many documents on this website are available in several file formats for viewing and downloading.
These include:
- PDF (Portable Document Format).
This format preserves the original appearance. Use a PDF viewer, such as Adobe Reader 8 for Windows XP to read the files. PDF files vary in accessibility so some readers may wish to choose other options.
- HTM (Hypertext Markup Language).
These files are similar in content to their PDF counterparts but may not retain the same format. They are typically read in a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc. This format may be more accessible for some users.
- BRF (Braille Ready Format)
These braille files are transcriptions of their PDF counterparts. Unless stated otherwise, all files use a page size of 25 lines by 40 cells.
- ZIP
A zipped file is a collection of one or more compressed files. Unzip the file in order to gain access to each individual file. Click here for information about unzipping compressed files in Windows XP. Those using earlier versions of Windows may wish to check out freeware zip utilities (http://www.freebielist.com/ziputilities.htm) for a number of alternatives.
